I believe some made it into the country about 10 years ago due to some loophole people found (which has since been closed)...
But I believe they are still legal to own, due to the them being imported through the now closed loophole...

I'd buy it and gut it for the drivetrain, wheels, lights, etc. I wouldn't risk driving it stock on the street, and it doesn't have ATTESSA so its not like transplanting the drivetrain into a smaller, lighter car would ruin the stock handling.

I wouldn't touch it because most of these they tried brining them in pieces and reassembling them.

This touches on it too you could get that strip it then have the Feds pick up the shell dam that would suck.

I'm sure it's legal. I've seen 1 R32 GTR, 4 R33s, 1 R33 GTR and 1 R34 GTR in my area. Although the R34 was from Louisiana, most likely just visiting.

There is not a ban on Skylines specifically. If cars don't meet safety and EPA regulations then they must be brought up to those standards. This process is extremely costly. There are a couple different possibilities and a couple of exemptions like if the car is over 25 years old or if the car is on the show and display list. You can find out all about the rules here: http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/imp…
Any Skyline (less than 25 years old) that is in the country legally (there are a few, google motorex) will be advertising bond release paperwork. That paperwork guarantees federal legality of the car and makes it worth more.

So basically, this one is bogus at best, illegal at worst?

Yep. And cars that don't have a bond release can never be made legal even once they would have been exempt under the 25 year rule.

Hey that's near me! I probably actually know this owner then. And if I do, I know that he flies LOWWWWW under the radar to avoid the car getting seized. I rarely see the car taken out to car shows and we've talked a few times about the questioning he gets on the car.
There also another one here locally by The Ozarks. It's white though, but same thing applies for him. Low low low radar.
Given that, I'd still buy it. I feel that given we're getting closer and closer to 25 years I could hide it for a few years and make giant profit once it was fully considered legal.

I like that whoever painted it paid attention to detail and made sure the engine bay matched the rest of the car... I would avoid this. Someone who would go through the effort of obtaining this legally, would have done a decent spray on it.
